What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We also use local storage, a similar browser-side storage mechanism, for a couple of things - it works the same way from a privacy standpoint, so we cover it here too.
The categories we use
Our cookie banner lets you choose which of these you're comfortable with, at any time, using the "Manage preferences" link in the site footer:
- Necessary - required for the site to function (staying signed in, remembering your language). These can't be turned off, because the site can't work correctly without them.
- Analytics - helps us understand which lessons are used and where visitors get stuck, so we can improve the platform. Off until you turn it on.
- Marketing - used to measure and improve any outreach about Penbloom. Off until you turn it on.

Any row marked [if enabled] above is only ever set if you've accepted that category in our cookie banner - and the underlying script for it is never even requested from our servers until you do.
YouTube-embedded videos
Some lessons embed a YouTube video. Playing one may allow Google/YouTube to set its own cookies, governed by Google's own privacy and cookie policies, independent of the choice you make in our banner.
Managing your preferences
You can change your cookie choices at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of every page, or by clearing your browser's local storage for this site (which will show the banner again on your next visit). You can also block or delete cookies generally through your browser's own settings, though doing so may affect necessary functionality like staying signed in.
