Marketing and Building an Audience
You Don't Have to Be Good at Marketing
One low-effort step is enough to start.
Do you need a strategy, a budget, or an existing following before you're allowed to start marketing your book? No. You genuinely don't. You just need to pick one small thing, and actually do it, instead of waiting until you have all three.
What's the actual blocker for most first-time authors here? It's usually not a lack of ideas, it's waiting to feel ready: ready with a following, ready with a plan, ready to sound professional. None of that has to exist first.
Small and consistent beats big and rare
Here's something worth expecting going in: one post won't sell out a print run, and it isn't supposed to. So if a single post isn't the goal, what is? What actually compounds over time is showing up more than once, mentioning the book again next month, posting a second video, bringing it up the next time it's genuinely relevant in conversation, rather than saying it once and going quiet.
Why does repetition matter more than any one post's polish? Because word of mouth needs something to spread from in the first place, and that something is almost always just you, mentioning your own book, more than once, without waiting until you feel ready enough to say it out loud. The first mention rarely does the work; it's the fifth one, the offhand one, that someone finally repeats to a friend.
